Background:
Luke’s first role in full-time employment was as a Support Services Assistant at the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, assisting Social Workers and Educational Psychologists with their administrative tasks. He carried out this role for almost two years before seeking a new challenge and joined Hedon Insurance as a personal lines insurance broker. Although Luke admits he ‘fell into’ insurance rather than it being a first-choice career, he quickly decided that insurance was the right career path and after eighteen months progressed into the commercial department. After a short space of time he started to undertake specific qualifications relevant to the insurance industry and has achieved both a Certificate and Diploma in Insurance with a view to progressing on to the Advanced qualification in the near future.
Away from work Luke enjoys working out at the gym, playing golf and cheering on his favourite team, Hull FC at the MKM Stadium.
Richard Medforth

Background:
Richard originally started at Hedon Insurance when he was 17 working part time at the Hedon Office on Saturdays. Once he completed the National Diploma, he joined the company full time and then moved to their Hornsea Office to deal with Personal Lines Insurance. He soon progressed into the Commercial Insurance team where he was the manager until HI Commercial was formed. He finds commercial insurance really interesting and enjoys the diversity of clients he works with.
Away from the office, Richard plays cricket for Hornsea Cricket club in the York Senior Cricket League and has played for Hornsea for the past 20 years. He has supported Hull City AFC through thick and thin since he was 6 years old and also enjoys a round of golf when he has any spare time.

Background:
Pete joined Hedon Insurance in 2017. His career began as an office junior for a national insurance broker at the age of 17. He has spent over twenty years in this field becoming an experienced account handler servicing personal line clients before becoming a Commercial Account Executive providing business insurance for local firms within the Hull area, where he has gained a wealth of knowledge.

Background:
Angela originally joined Hedon Insurance in 2017 and has worked in the insurance profession for over twenty-five years for a variety of businesses and organisations in different sectors. She has worked in Hull and Nottingham in financial roles.
Angela fulfils a dual role as Accounts Assistant and Commercial Account Handler. In her spare time, Angela keeps fit in the gym, enjoys running and spending time with family and friends.
Mike Ratcliffe ACII

Background:
Mike’s career began as a claims handler with Norwich Union/Aviva progressing to become a Claims Investigator working throughout the North of England. An Associate of The Insurance Institute since 1991 Mike moved into broking in 2003 and has worked for two firms of national insurance brokers since.
Mike looks after a variety of businesses whilst continuing to provide local service to clients in Hull and surrounding areas. He continues the company’s love of sport, having held a single-figure handicap at golf and being a keen follower of all levels of football (most of it supporting The Tigers!).
Alan Hamilton

Background:
Alan spent his career advising clients in both personal lines and commercial insurance with a number of UK brokers and achieved a BA Hons in Business and Management from Glasgow Caledonian University.
In 2019, Alan sought a new challenge and the role at HI Commercial stood out because of the Company’s approach to commercial insurance, getting to know clients and visit their premises for first-hand experience of how the business works.
Ben Lount

Background:
Before joining HI Commercial, Ben had completed a degree at York St. Johns University and had been working a few seasonal jobs for various agricultural firms.
As an Apprentice, Ben is learning new things every day and says he gets lots of support from everyone in the office.
The role involves inviting and processing renewals as well as running new quotes through with our panel of insurers.
Outside of work, Ben enjoys playing football with his friends and helping out on the farm at home.

Jasmine joined HI Commercial in September 2021 from another business insurance broker based in Scunthorpe, where she gained 6 years’ experience.
As an Account Handler, Jasmine and is working to grow a client base of her own and finds helping businesses with their commercial insurance requirements to be a very rewarding job.
